Milwaukee Health Systems Receive Philanthropy Impact Award from Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers

Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers (Sixteenth Street) recently recognized the Milwaukee Health Care Partnership’s health system members with a Philanthropy Impact Award at its 2015 Community Report event.

The Milwaukee Health Care Partnership’s hospital system members: Aurora Health Care, Children’s Hospital & Health System, Columbia St. Mary’s, Froedtert Health, and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, were honored for their significant financial contributions to Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers, and their commitment to increase access to healthcare services for low income uninsured and underinsured patients.  Since 2007, the health systems have collectively contributed over $21 million through their Shared Community Investment Fund to improve health care access, most of it in support to Sixteenth Street and the other Milwaukee-based community health centers.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Partnership, Travis Andersen, Columbia St. Mary’s president & CEO remarked, “Early in our work together, the health systems recognized the opportunity to align and leverage our financial contributions in Milwaukee to reduce fragmentation and achieve our collective health improvement goals. This is a meaningful recognition of our shared commitment to expand access to high quality primary care, behavioral health and dental care for low-income families.”

Sixteenth Street’s 2015 Community Report event celebrated outstanding volunteers, referral medical providers, community organizations and donors that help advance the community health center’s commitment to providing patient-centered care that is free from linguistic, cultural and economic barriers.
