Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center, Expanded Treatment and Diagnostic Services for Youth

To advance the Milwaukee Health Care Partnership (MHCP) priority of increasing access to mental and behavioral health services, the health system sponsors have allocated a significant investment from the 2025 Shared Community Investment Fund (SCIF) to the Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center (GLIIHC) for its newly opened All Nations Wellness Center (ANWC) Behavioral Health Department.

The ANWC Behavioral Health Department’s construction was completed in 2025, featuring the addition of critical behavioral health services for children and adolescents. The center enabled the expansion of existing services, including behavioral health assessment and evaluation, counseling and therapy, psychiatric medication management, and care coordination, as well as the introduction of new services such as occupational and speech therapy through a partnership with Marquette University. The center is designed in a woodland theme, representative of the northeastern woodland region of the Great Lakes, to intentionally depict Native ways of life, which are rooted in the land that they inhabit.
