The Milwaukee Health Care Partnership served as the catalyst for, and co-founder of the Milwaukee County Oral Health Task Force, now hosted by Children’s Health Alliance of Wisconsin. It focuses on the assessment of dental access needs and the implementation of a community-wide oral health improvement plan. Its goals include:
- Increase the number of students served by school-based oral health programs high-risk schools in Milwaukee
- Increase the number of pregnant women obtaining oral health services
- Monitor and advocate for increased utilization of dental services by members of Medicaid health maintenance organizations (HMOs)
- Evaluate and develop strategies to increase access to dental care for special needs populations
- Enhance dental care navigation through community safety net services and emergency department care coordination
