The Partnership conducted a medication needs assessment in 2010 to identify medication assistance capacity building opportunities. Since then, it has secured over $185,000 in private grant funding for medication assistance programs at FQHCs and safety net clinics. Additionally, the MHCP/United Way Health Improvement Fund has supported a MedShare program at the Bread of Healing Clinic for a number of years. It is estimated that these programs serve approximately 35,000 patients a year. Despite expanded insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act, many low-income patients struggle to find affordable medications and continue to rely and prescription assistance programs offered at safety net clinics.
