What’s Covered with BadgerCare Plus?
The Milwaukee Enrollment Network and Covering Wisconsin have unveiled a new campaign to increase awareness of BagerCare Plus (Medicaid) and to remind consumers of the many benefits it covers. “We’ve found that many individuals don’t think they qualify for BadgerCare Plus – especially men,” says Caroline Gomez-Tom, MKEN program manager. “With guidance from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and input from consumers, we’ve been able to put together an awareness campaign that lets people know what’s covered under BadgerCare Plus, and where to go for help to apply.”
The Medicaid awareness campaign will run from March through September in 2019, with promotion through social media, Milwaukee County transit advertising and videos in select DMV customer service centers. The “covered” benefits highlighted in the campaign are: Addiction Help, Child Check Ups, Dental Care, Doctor Visits, Mental Health Care, Pregnancy STD Checks, Vaccines, and help to Stop Smoking.
“There are 67,000 uninsured individuals in Milwaukee County, and many of them are eligible for BadgerCare Plus, ” adds Gomez-Tom. The awareness campaign is intended to:
- Enroll those who are eligible for BadgerCare Plus, but are not yet enrolled
- Help re-enroll those who risk a lapse in coverage
- Improve health insurance literacy, enhancing enrollees’ understanding of their benefits and use of the health care delivery system
