The Milwaukee Health Care Partnership facilitates, secures new and redirects existing public and private funding and in-kind resources to support the priorities and initiatives aligned with its annual operating plan. Although not an incorporated 501(c)3, the Partnership utilizes the fiscal agency of its members to receive and distribute grants and support, most commonly through Columbia St. Mary’s, the Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association and the Wisconsin Hospital Association.
The Partnership maintains a fund development committee, which identifies, cultivates and solicits funding sources and serves as a clearing house for funding opportunities and collaboration among its members.
To date, the Partnership has secured and distributed over $8,588,300. Of that total, $821,300 has been from corporate and private foundations, $580,000 from public funders and $7,187,000 from health system contributions.
In fiscal year 2010, the Partnership coordinated over $6 million in programmatic funding. This included $2.9 million from health systems to support the FQHCs for uninsured care, health information exchange infrastructure related to ED care coordination, outpatient behavioral health capacity and community care management support.
Outside support for the Partnership includes funding from the Greater Milwaukee Business Foundation on Health for medication assistance software, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for the BadgerCare Enrollment Fee Trust Fund, the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program for ED care coordination and case management, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for ED care coordination and quality outcomes measurement, and a consortium of funders for a behavioral health redesign study.
